Rocky Mountains, Canada / USA

The Rocky Mountains (or the Rockies) are a major mountain range in western North America. The Rocky Mountains stretch more than 3,000 miles (4,830 km) from the northernmost part of British Columbia, in western Canada, to New Mexico, in the southwestern United States. The area of the Rocky Mountains takes in a vast array of different mountains, as well as many different stunning lakes and beautiful areas of water, such as the wonderful crystal blue Moraine Lake.Much of the mountain range is protected by public parks and forest lands, and is a popular tourist destination, especially for hiking, camping, mountaineering, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding.

Wulingyuan, China

Wulingyuan is a scenic and historic interest area in Hunan Province, China, noted for its approximately 3,100 tall quartzite sandstone pillars, some of which are over 800 metres (2,600 ft) in height and are a type of karst formation. Wulingyuan Scenic Area, lying to the north of Zhangjiajie City, is a charming tourist attraction. It is one of the 40 famous scenic spots in China. It is said to be 'The ampliative miniascape and the contractible fairyland' and was admitted to the 'World Heritage List' in 1992. The spot boasts of natural beauty where mountains, valleys, forests, caves, lakes and waterfalls exist in total harmony. Over 560 scenic sights can be found here. The strangely-shaped peaks, the absurd stones, the hidden valleys, the wonderful waters and the limestone caves form the 'Five Wonders' of Wulingyuan and they are really worth seeing.

Glen Coe, Scotland

Glencoe Village is the main settlement in Glen Coe, Lochaber, Highland, Scotland. It lies at the north-west end of the glen, on the southern bank of the River Coe. Glencoe is unquestionably one of Scotland's most historic and scenic glens. Visitors holiday here from all over the world - year after year, inspired by the sheer scale and grandeur of its surrounding mountains and fascinated by the intrigue of its turbulent past. Glencoe may well be famous as a centre for walking, skiing and climbing vacations, but there are so many other things to see and do. It's an ideal holiday centre from which to go mountain biking, sailing, horse-riding, fishing and, of course, to travel around the western highlands and islands of Scotland. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", was filmed on location in Glencoe in May and June. Three sets were built near to the bottom of Clachaig Gully, and quite literally, just across the road from Clachaig Inn. The sets were located so as to take in the fantastic scenery, overlooking the Torren Lochan, and the Signal Rock forest to the rugged hills of the glen.

Namaqualand, South Africa

Namaqualand is an arid region of Namibia and South Africa, extending along the west coast over 600 miles (970 km) and covering a total area of 170,000 square miles/440,000 km². A typical municipality is Kamiesberg Local Municipality. Great Namaqualand is in the Karas Region of Namibia. Great Namaqualand is sparsely populated by the Namaqua, a Khoikhoi people who traditionally inhabited the Namaqualand region. Some of the more prominent towns in this area are Springbok, being the capital of this region. This area is quite rich in alluvial diamonds deposited along the coast by the Orange River. Oranjemund is another mining town along this coast. There is a vibrant fishing industry along this stretch of the South African west coast.Namaqualand is quite popular with both local and international tourists during early springtime, when for a short period this normally arid area becomes covered with a kaleidoscope of colour during the flowering season. it has one of the highest percentages of Afrikaans speakers in the world, with over 95% of the population speaking the Afrikaans Language.
